As a fan of both pro wrestling and FFXIV, I never expected to see them collide like this, and I love it. From the commentator looking like a lalafell Jim Ross and talking over the matches; the outfits of M1-3 being fairly realistic wrestling attire (even Honey B Lovely’s wouldn’t look out of place in a Japanese female wrestler’s wardrobe); Brute Bomber having a referee take a hit during his fight; Eutrope killing the lights and showing up out of nowhere, like certain spooky wrestlers like to do; and a shadowy authority figure controlling the company.
It also doesn’t shy away from the darker side of things. Abuse of PEDs, the physical toll wrestling takes on you, and companies covering up shady things are all too real in the world of wrestling. It’s interesting to see them take that into account, and it makes me excited to see where this story will go.
It’s such a fun, fantastical take on wrestling, and I’m glad it went this route. It’s a breath from the higher stakes of Pandaemonium, while still not being completely carefree. I’m really excited to see where this raid goes in the next tiers.
