Koana should have been the one to accompany us into Alexandria instead of Wuk Lamat.
Firstly, let's look at why Wuk Lamat's motivation for going into the dome: avenging her father and protecting Tullyolal. This is something she shares with her brother. In fact, I'd argue Koana has an even better reason to accompany us into the dome because it's built with advanced technology. And he is bar none the resident tech guy in Tural
Secondly, Alexandria as a concept is an explicit criticism Koana's prime directive that technology will invariably make life better. Alexandria essentially defeated death with technology to the extent that even grief was a non-issu. The morality of this is much better explored with someone who, at least partially, dreamed of a similar outcome. Imagine seeing a world achieve your dreams - only for the unsustainability of those dreams put everything you've ever loved in harms way. Imagine being a technophile, and witnessing the greatest machine ever built, only to be forced to turn it off personally.
Thirdly, over the course of the MSQ it becomes clear that Wuk Lamat is a natural diplomat. She was able to reach out to people even her legendary father couldn't. Zoraal Ja's invasion force was ultimately defeated thanks to alliances made by Koana. But wouldn't it make more sense for Wuk Lamat to make those alliances?|
Finally, Wuk Lamat's inclusion in the fourth zone helped establish an emotional connectionwith Sphene. However, I think that job should have gone to Krille and/or Erenville. They were both criminally underutilized in their own expansion and I careda lot more about Krille's past/Erenville's mother than I did for Sphene's motivations.
