So I logged in today to find myself in the GM jail (something Gaol), and after waiting for about an hour with no prior information for why I was there or what I had done wrong, a GM appeared and quickly informed me that I had been given a 3 day suspension and prompted me to ask any questions. Now I personally have no idea what I have done wrong to receive this punishment, as I hardly talked to anyone in the game client since my life has been pretty busy and only pop in for some raids/FC events. So upon asking for any context of said ban and inquiring how I could improve as I intend to keep playing this game for the future and want to preserve my account (just not talking is a viable option for me if somehow speaking plainly is to much for the in game world now...), but apparently any information of my "behaving inappropriately towards other players" falls under the "Privacy Policy" which means I cannot learn what I did wrong and attempt to improve from my "apparent" mistakes.
Some might argue that sharing that information could lead to me trying to find out who reported me and harass them for it, but I want to dismiss such arguments as then they could just report me again and since we skipped stages 1 & 2 of this 6 stage process of banning, not unlikely my second offense would just outright ban me. ( forgot to mention, they sent me a link to how this all works and I never received the "Caution" or "Warning" stages of this process and immediately was assigned a 3 day suspension.)
After my unhelpful chat with the GM concluded (where every questions I asked, either stated he was unwilling to answer, they are not allowed to disclose any information regarding my suspension, and I have to just try hard to not get banned), I went to SE's website to try and talk to customer service, which leads you to a web chat where you can click the "Account banned" tab in what your issue is. Now you can have a customer service rep tell you that they have no knowledge of anything to due with in game events/activities and send you another link back to another form that reads the same, but I guess get directed to a different team.
After filling that forum out, and plainly admitting that I have no idea why I have been banned, and honestly I don't care that much other than the fact they skipped their own procedures on the matter and refuse to tell me what the reasoning is (I don't care who reported me, I just want to make sure I don't make another mistake in their eyes for the sake of account preservation), I can safely say SE's/FFXIV NA's customer support is among the worst I have encountered. ( I'll give it a 2/10 for the sake that at least I didn't talk to any robots.)
I probably won't hear back from that last ticket filing til after I am back in the game, but it seriously hurts to have something I pour most of my free time into and had some of my best times recently just outright lock me out with next to no information, and the fact that if it happens again like this, I might lose my account without even knowing why.
I have no opinion of the representatives who I spoke with, as they just didn't have the tools or privilege's to assist me. It's probably a systematic issue with how they handle player relations. It shouldn't be hard to give a generalized description of why I might lose access to something I pay a monthly fee for and when I am straight up asking how I can "reform" so I don't make similar "mistakes" in the future, as this would be a first step into helping the community "improve" and keeping customers. ( I am putting these in quotes as I seriously give my all to respect any fellow players I come across, and am at a loss for what more I could do/not do.)
If you read or even skimmed through this all, just wow, and thank you for taking the time to read about my situation. This isn't the first extremely awful experience I had with SE's customer service, and doubt it will be the last (and not the representatives faults, more so outdated company policy and them probably just having no tools to actually assist any customers). I don't have any idea where to go from here as I probably won't hear back from my filed tickets until a few days after my suspension is lifted but it kinda scares me to think I got a several strikes against my account without even knowing about it. Lastly I will share my literal best guess as to what may have flagged it, I saw a bunch of players spamming "AAAAAAAAAAA" (probably 5-7 of them), so I chimed in with one much shorter "AHHHH". How this would get my a 3 day suspension is beyond me but its all I got.
TL&DR: I have next to no information, unprompted 3 day suspension (skipping the "caution", "warning" stages), next to no help from customer service/GM's, ranting about how this is a really bad system. Anyone else in this same boat?
