just gave RDM a crack after returning since mid-stormblood. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised and I'm not even to the dmg boost with jolt II yet.
I discovered that RDM addresses a few issues I've had with other classes:
-slow combat and heavy GCD-based
-long, predictable, repetitive rotations
-variability in skills that arent just Slash, Slash harder, Super Slash and Ultimate Slash
-variability in duties, the need for the occasional heal or rez is just enough for you to give a shit about whats going on in the fight outside of your own parse.
-mobility
-ranged/melee alternating keeps things interesting.
A lot of criticism about the simplicity of the job, and the lack of DPS when compared. I'm curious what you all think of this? I like the rotation, i don't see it as simple, i see it as flexible, hear me out.
Most classes are about Buff->blow oGCD skills when avail -> click combos in sequence until oGCD or buffs are avail.
What i like about RDM is that although there's a rotation in place, its shorter, and more flexible without being penalized for going off of meta rotation. It allows me to enjoy the fights, change up the pace and have some fun. It feels much more Arcade'y than other classes, sounds simple, but i cant stop smiling when i play. It feels powerful, fluid, and stylish!
So what is the downside? what am i going to learn about RDM that i don't know? Will i be shunned by raids looking for Sam/BLM/SMN?
Also does anyone have a relevant and current RDM player guide where i can hone my skills, rotations, macros, food etc?
