I get that Gaius was trying to recruit him, but the actual contents of his speech are baffling.
He gives a huge, long spiel about how Cid's dad knew that Cid would never be fulfilled and happy working as the head engineer creating war machines.
...and then he tells Cid to go work with him as head engineer to build war machines.
Like, what was your plan Gaius? You literally told him he would never be happy doing the job and then you ask him to join you anyways? What did you think you were gonna accomplish?
