<!-- ** --><TABLE class=ta_info3 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=480 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=500>Recently both ABC News and Yahoo! News have reported that over 10,000 websites have been infected by hackers in an attempt to steal the IDs and passwords used in various online games.

Based on the articles, it is apparent that hackers are heavily targeting online game accounts. As we have often reminded our players in the past, we ask that you continue to monitor and update the security of your system and Internet connection to prevent any harm caused by infected websites and malicious programs.

If you suspect your account is compromised, please contact the Information Center and provide us with the details. If your account is compromised outside Information Center business hours, please place a helpdesk call in order to contact a Game Master (GM) to report the details. Depending on your situation, we will offer all the assistance we can, including temporary login restriction to prevent any further harm, as well as instructions on how to proceed from there.

We are currently reviewing the restoration policy for players who have had their accounts compromised. Our goal is to expand the assistance towards affected players by restoring their accounts to a state that's as close as possible to the state it was in before it was compromised. Details on the restoration policy will be announced on the official web site once they become finalized. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.

Players who are compromised on WoW end up with posts on their toons that read "HOW BEAUTIFUL AND SEX" and inside are pictures named hotsexy.jpg, and whatnot, that link to a picture of a fucking bear form druid sitting in a field by itself. It's the most confusing and depressing thing I've ever seen, considering I was hoping for hot naked Chinese girls.

Also <3 Firefox with NoScript and Adblock!

/le sigh....

It is certainly late, but that doesn't mean it won't help those who had already been restored.

Perhaps they will be able to have SE check their accounts again and restore it to a better degree.

We're sorry - we have no record of having restored said account. Thank you, please come again. Click.

All I know is that when my WoW account was hacked, my character gutted, all my mats and stuff gone, all toons, I contacted a GM, they locked my account, reviewed it, and about a day and a half later, I was sent an email saying they'd restored my account to its previous status. I logged in naked, but in the mail from the gms were all my armor pieces, with enchants and socketed jewels, my exact gold amount, and all my mats for all my characters. Someone should let SE know THATS customer service.

There was this one time where our guild leader miss clicked when sorting loot to people, and my necklace item ended up to another player. This person called a GM, and a few hours later, the item was in my mail box.

Even though WoW customer service isn't perfect, it's still pretty good compared to FFXI...

/wave everyone.
