Se Should Give Absolutely Everybody At Least 1 Aoe Attack Before Level 15

So I'm leveling up my dragoon and get a Tam-tara group in the leveling roulette. Ah well I think, at least it's not Ifrit normal again. The tank starts doing big boy pulls and I usually think, 'this is a little pointless at this level, nobody can AoE except for the tanks' except I notice the other DPS is a Red Mage, so that solves that.

Then I realize...oh, I guess only I can't AoE. The healer can at least DoT multiple mobs, and as we get packs of ten mobs at a time and I'm single-targetting them down I feel rather...useless.

Lower level dungeons are already a bit of a chore for everybody because you have next to none of your skill kit and they are extremely simple. They also give newbies a poor representation of what later game dungeon running is actually like, which is pulling groups wall-to-wall and everyone AoEing the mobs down. Many jobs have to wait a long time until they can do that, like Dragoon at level 40(!).

So, I think it'd be best for the lower level dungeon experience overall if everybody at least had one of their AoEs before you could access the first dungeon. These are the pros and cons I've managed to think up:

Pros -


  • You don't get enough abilities at low levels, this helps a bit.


  • Newbies get an idea what the dungeon experience for most of the game is actually like. DPS know to AoE large packs and tanks can get comfortable with the idea of larger pulls.


  • The dungeons are over quicker!


  • I don't feel useless as a dragoon when the other DPS is spamming spread shot or scatter.

Cons -


  • It's true you don't get enough moves, but after this most people would literally be smashing one button for most of the run.


  • Lower level dungeons become just 'everybody spam AoE all the time', there are less differences between the jobs and so less variety.


  • Lower level dungeons are over quicker. They are already very very easy and this makes them even easier. However, they're also already very very boring though, so I'm not sure if that would actually be worse.

Honestly I think any concern about the dungeons being too easy is pretty pointless given their current difficulty anyway. This would just bring all the jobs in line to what they already end up doing in any 50+ dungeon.

I don't know why SE didn't already do this when they gave all tanks an AoE in Shadowbringers, though that came with the additional requirement that they needed it for AoE enmity generation after the changes. I think it'd be better for newbies and actually just better for everybody.
