As says in the title: This request is about changing the combat in FF14 when leveling, doing world quests, fates and regular dungeons but also at no development cost with the suggestion to release job skillsets and the level they are distributed from previous expansions as alternatives to be swapped to or back.
Because right now jobs like Scholar doesn't feel tuned to the catharsis of mass-pulling in a dungeon, synced content where almost no healing is needed, doing fates, having MSQ showdowns with villains or fighting a single mob for it's innards.
This is a role that seems to have been taken over by Blue Mage: Where it's understood dungeons can be trivialized when you know them, but running them again is no problem because now the challenge is rather to see how much you can ruin a mob's day with every debuff known to Final Fantasy.
But this joy is cut short by not letting Blue mage partake in 61-80 or roulettes, and the jobs I play that can partake don't feel like they're currently made for adventure. With all the talk about Balance recently and before 5.0, I'd say they were only tuned for raids, but I don't do Savage or Ultimate so cannot say. I just know I'm not having fun with the job largely reduced to two buttons: Broil III and Art of War.
Please look to this crude MS paint drawing comparing what I did on a moment to moment basis in HW vs. now in ShB. The sense of accomplishment keeping party alive while doing all that is what made me come back to dungeons just for the sake of running it. There is a ton more from ACN, Selene and pet hotbar in 3.0, but just wanted to emphasize offence. I don't have anything like it running a dungeon in 5.0.
All this is a response to seeing the frankly staggering amount of stuff coming in 5.2 but also learning there will be no new Deep Dungeon in the forseeable future, and possibly no other light-party content like Rathalos either.
Since making new dungeons, implementing Mythic+ like stuff or redesigning jobs would take development resources maybe already allocated elsewhere my suggestion to revitalize would be to release the skillsets from Heavensward (3.5) as alternatives, like Blue Mage, to be used when running out in the world, doing solo or MSQ quests, trials, normal raids and regular dungeons. And would come at no cost since they already exist in the game files. With possibilites of others.
For Lore part it’s digging in your job's history to see how it worked before, in same way NG+ was introduced.
Not for balance, not for optimization, just the joy of again being able to enter Cleric Stance, activate Fey Wind during my own gcd, put up Bio 2, cast Miasma, Bio, then hit Bane, see the purple smoke spread sickness and disease, run in for a close range Miasma 2, then run out to cast Shadowflare under their feet and at any time during casting I can use Embrace with potency almost on the level of Physick.
