The crafting interface probably needs a full overhaul, but here's one suggestion that could be implemented in the current system which would bring it in line with gear vendors.
Currently the drop-down menu lets you filter items by gear slot or item type, the exception being weapons and tools which are sorted by class/job and often only contain 2 items. What I want to see as a weaver is filter options for Disciple of Land/Hand, Disciple of War and Disciple of Magic so I can craft a full gear set for one job without having to read through 7 similarly named items to find the right one every time.
As for crafting weapons, it might be nicer to have them grouped as Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged/Magic DPS, Healer, Disciple of the Land, and Disciple of the Hand. On Blacksmith this would turn 26 dropdown menu options with 2/3 items each into 6 options with on average 12 items.
