Ladies and gentlemen,
I have heard your complaints and criticism and have corrected my methodology to account for the various issues that were pointed out!
This was a long process, involving over 84,000 pages requested from lodestone. (Pls dont ban me for DOS sqenix...)
First allow me to tell you the new methodology. This time I pulled the top 1000 and bottom 1000 for each class in Ex1 and Ex2. I have gathered data on Race, Clan, and Gender this time. I have also gathered the total number of each Race, Clan, and Gender that were seen. Finally, there was some speculation as to height playing a factor in parse performance. So I also have a set of results that are normalized for height.
The method used for the values used to normalize height was to take Midlander as the default mid height (they are Mid after all), and use this to obtain a ratio of each races/genders height as a comparison to Midlanders. This ratio was obtained with the equation:
midlander_height / (midlander_height + abs(midlander_height - race_height))
If the race was taller than Midlanders I then subtracted this value from 2, to bring the number above 1, if they were shorter the value was unchanged.
The equation for normalization was to multiply the number of characters of that race in the top 1000 by the ratio, and to divide the number of characters of that race in the bottom 1000.
So for example: Midlander males are 1.75m tall. Au''"''""'Ra males are 2.1 meters tall, so we get:
1.75 / (1.75 + abs(1.75 - 2.1)) 1.75 / (1.75 + (0.35)) 1.75 / 2.1 = 0.83333333333333333333333
Since they are taller than Midlanders I then subtracted that value from 2, and the ratio is 1.166666666667
Now on to the data!
First, here is the total number of each Race/Clan/Gender seen:
Next we will look at the performance of each race and class:
And finally the values normalized for height:
And now for the conclusions we can draw from this data.
Firstly, looking at the overall total number of each race/clan/gender seen we can determine that this game is mostly played by hot women. With the highest numbers of players being in Au''"''""'Ra females, and Miqo Te females. This is all we need to know. The lesser gender and races are not worth discussing.
Now looking to the results we see a few interesting pieces of data. In every race that is not a hideous troll that belongs under a bridge (Hrothgar, Roegadyn, Viera) the women out performed the men. Good job ladies. Send the men into the kitchen and let us take care of doing the content.
The data remains similar to before with Miqo Te > Lalafell > Au''"''""'Ra. The other races all scored negative and as such my previous conclusion remains accurate. Kick anyone that is not a Miqo Te, Lalafell or Au''"''""'Ra and get someone who knows how to play the game.
As was predicted by the mighty Highlanders, the Midlanders are in fact dragging your numbers down. But you are also still terrible, so this is meaningless.
Finally let's look and see if the data has any drastic shifts when normalizing for height. The first thing you may notice is that Lalafell do in fact have an advantage due to their short stature. When normalizing their results to compensate they fall deeply into the negatives. In fact, with the heights normalized there are only three races that are showing positive numbers. Miqo Te > Au''"''""'Ra > Viera.
Now, do not take this as vindication for the Viera. They cheat at height with their ears, and as such should probably be showing a lower number when not giving them the extra height of their ears.
Overall the data shows exactly what was expected after the first post. No real surprises here. Well, other than the fact that people actually choose to play the lesser races.
And finally I have one last piece of information I would like to point out. Sun Cats are drastically better than Moon Cats. Does this really come as a shock to anyone?
