Hello,
I've been at least toying with the idea of submitting something for the "Physical Handcrafted Works" Section (since crafting is pretty much the only type of art I'm even remotly good at).
However, after reading the rules, I've got two questions:
1) Is it possible/allowed to submit an artwork that has already been made but fits the theme? Or do we have to create something specifically for the contest?
2) The rules state that "All Entries must be the original creative work of the entrant submitting the Entry. You may not submit works created by another person." - makes a lot of sense, no one wants stolen art.
But here is my struggle: My craft is cross stitching - since I cant really draw myself, I depend on artworks made by others to base my patterns on those. I only use official artworks, though. The patterns are made by myself afterwards, using a couple different programs.
To give an example: I used the official pixelart for the FFXIV-jobs (which are used for the PotD-ranking on the official website) to create little patterns - pixelart is pretty perfect (even though a bit boring) for this since you can match a pixel with a stitch. To illustrate it a bit better, here is what I did with the BLM-pixelart:
Left is the pattern I made a 100% based on the official pixelart, on the right is the finished little BLM.
Is this "original creative work" now? I personally always feel that it isnt, at least not really - which is why I'm asking.
Any insight would be appreciated!
