questions about the leves

So, I'm just killing time by going through and doing some random older content I never completed, and I happened to notice, while at the Sons of St. Coinach in Mor Dona, when I spoke to the K'leytai, the person who gives you some general leves, I hadn't in fact done a first-time completion for a set of fieldcraft leves (the ones where you just gather things), so I'm like, "Oh! Well, I love seeing that green checkmark next to things, and I've got nothing better to do right now, lol."
So I grab these miner and botanist fieldcraft leves, I'll give one as an example, called See How They Shine. Basically walking around to the crystalised trees and gathering the stuff there.
For those who know, you know how normally, when you start the leve, it brings up a thing on the side showing your evaluation points, a set of evaluation bonus tiers based on how many points you get, and the number of attempts you can make?
Well, I remember that you could gain more points by simply gathering more of a given item in each swing of the tool, or by increasing the number of attempts you have with abilities. Here's the weird thing.....I mean, I know it's been a while, but surely I'm supposed to get more than 1 single point per swing, right??? >.>"
I'm confused by these groupings of leves I did just recently. They all had the same issue, no matter what I did, I'd only get one evaluation point per swing. The bonus tiers require points upwards of over 130-160....So....Did I forget to do something basic to change that? It's been a while since I did these fieldcraft leves. Or did SE change the way fieldcraft leves work and I simply didn't know? It's not necessary for me to get these extra points, since everything's maxed out, but this is kinda bugging me XD
