I'm not gonna put this behind spoiler tags because it's old content. But I noted in the title it's a spoiler, so please leave now if you haven't played through Stormblood.
I just completed another playthrough of SB on an alt, and during the very last scene of the expansion, when Zenos is in the body of an Alliance soldier after Ghymlit Dark, he says, "My enemy, my friend. If only I was a bit sooner."
I'm probably overthinking this, but what did he mean by that? Was he going to help us against Elidibus? I'm assuming he doesn't want anyone to rob him of his chance at a rematch with the WoL. He wants to begin his hunt again anew.
But I never understood this final scene.
