Put dynamis on hold?

Just call me Veronica Mars
Should we put dynamis on hold until the new price changes step into effect?

I hope the currency won't drop too much in price, so it won't be a loss again.

With SE cutting the cost for Dynamis in half, currency prices are definitely going to fall. I'd expect them not to drop in half, but it'll probably be fairly close.

I think we'll have more interest in Dynamis after the update as the drop rates in certain areas (Northlands and/or CoP) improve and as people try to get the new armor for PUP.

Er... and I guess for BLU and COR too. ^_~

We can put dynamis on hold if everyone feels that is best. I would rather not.

Instead of putting dynamis on hold we could have no one sponsor and just sell all the currency that drops to cover or try to cover the hourglass price and anyone lotting syth mats give them % cut of the gil over 1 mil. That way we are still getting AF for everyone.

What are everyones thoughts on this?

Personally, I'd like to see dynamis going if we can find a solution. What you suggested, Heie, could be one. I'm not so eager to toss 1 million at a sponsorship when I know the price will go down, though - especially since the areas with the best chance of yielding profits are city runs, which sees fewer and fewer people.

I also think the price of currency will drop, but dear God, I hope it won't drop to completely match the new entry price. That would completely defy the entire point. >.<

Also, Heie, dude, you and Yels need to sack a couple more people for emergencies like last night. XD

I think it will be like things normallly are when SE makes an adjustment. Everyone will panic sell but in 2 months the price will be stable again and nearly what it is now.

yes and no. it's going to be a less expensive endeavor overall regardless.

yes, lexa and sass both really stepped up last night so they would be good choices.

Am I wrong, or didn't SE say that TAU relic would not be acquired in Dynamis?

*EDIT*
NM I'm a frickin idiot.

Don't see the point putting Dynamis on hold really.

I can understand sponsors not wanting to sponsor still September. Could just have everyone pay for glass in the mean time and split the currency between everyone.

Thats another idea.

So far it is.

1.) Put Dynamis on hold until update.

2.) Sell the currency to recoup the 1 mil and anything over 1 mil split between non-af lotters.

3.) Old school dynamis. Everyone pays entrance fee and singles are free lot and 100's are lotted between non-af lotters.

Please post any other ideas people have so we can implement them before Wednesday and can have a vote for them.

If we're not putting it on hold (which I'd hate to see, I think keeping the flow of the event is important) the split cost/freelot singles/100s for non-AF lotters seem like the best option to me.

Only problem I see with doing it this way is with 20 people going on a run thats 1mil/20=50k per person. If we happen to have 15 people then thats 66k gil per person. Thats a lot of gil to dish out for one dynamis run IMO. But if people want to do it that way.

I agree.. personally, I wouldn't be able to afford that twice a week.. or even once a week.

Thing is, you have a great chance of gaining more than enough currency to cover the cost. I am sure between a small amount of people in dynamis, that you will get a few each time at least. As everyone has said so far, up to everyone as a whole though.

20 people ~ 120 currency (usually worst case) ~ 6 singles each @ 7-9k ~ 42,000
20 people ~ 300 currency (close to best case) ~ 15 singles each @ 7-9k ~ 105,000

If you went to both of the above runs, you'd come out ahead!

You'd have to let 1 person collect all the currency & divide it up evenly amoungst the participants, otherwise some people might end up with only 1 or 2 singles & not recoup their cost (me probably since I lot 25 most the time.. lol). Much the same as we did/do for Limbus.

Alternatively ~ have 1 person buy the glass & sell it all, divi up the profits. Comes out the same for the most part. Just more waiting around for someone else to sell stuff. You'd sell it yourself for profit if you get the currency and crafting mats up front.

It's still iffy. I'm not sure what the going rate for currency is but 66k seems like quite a bit of singles.

EDIT: Sassa sneaky ninja post right before mine while I am at work trying to do this between calls.. Orz. I guess I know going rate now ;o

I'm all for splitting the cost on runs. I'd have willingly done that for every run I've attended these last few years if given the choice.

I expect people to drop the currency price immediately, so I don't think we can get 7-9k at the moment. Dcupps who bought my currency a few weeks ago for a nice rate was already offering a lot lower price this weekend just on the expectation of the announcement. Once people know glass costs 1/2, they'll expect currency prices at 1/2 too (though they probably won't get much at that level, and their buying price will edge up).

Basically, I'm just mentioning it to say we probably won't get last week's currency prices on the currency we get before the update, but I still would be in favor of splitting the entry fee and/or selling the currency to offset the glass cost.

People should still attend these runs. Come help out, and the increased numbers will ensure we easily get enough currency to make a profit. Plus we'll be getting AF and crafting materials too!

Someone hang onto any 100s and sell them, what you get for those 100's comes off the price of next glass and the people going on the run won't have to pay 66kish every run.

keep the same lotting choices we have now. only difference is 100s will help out with the cost of the hour glass.

There is the possibility that with the price reduction of the hour glass, more people will sponsor and upgrade making currency more rarer so prices might not even change at all. I kind of agree with what Fodder said somewhere in this forum about currency.

That's actually a really good idea, Defiant. That'd leave between 400k and 200k to be split between attendees, and it'd only require for someone to sponsor the initial run, which quite honestly I don't mind doing. :D
