Since the successive changes made to Purify, from 5s of immunity down to 3s, then more recently down to 2s with the MP changes, it's not possible to use it preventively and reliably anymore, for the simple reason that the recast is still 4s, so using it preventively doesn't last at all and opponents just have to wait for it to just finish to stun you. Once they do, you can't repurify out of it and you're screwed.
It also makes Raiju absolutely obnoxious for this very reason by the way. It's like everything in this mode is designed to frustrate when it comes to crowd control.
