That means if you ever bought any version of the game (1.0, ARR, Starter Edition, Complete Edition) and registered the key on the mogstation, then your account is not a trial account anymore and you will need to sub to play.
You CAN however buy the game and decide to register the key at a later date to get more time out of the free trial. So you could basically get a key at a good price now during the 50% sale. This does NOT work if you buy on the PS4 store, as that version gets immediately registered. Buying it on the SE store, any official online reseller or any retail store will give you a key you can keep before registering.
If you ever had a trial account in the past, then it depends on when you made it. The oldest trial version was time limited. If you ever had one of those, you cannot take part in the time unlimited trial. However if you took part in the time unlimited trial until lvl 35, then you will now be able to play until lvl 60 end of version 3.55.
Making a new account, ditching the old:
On PC: Go to https://freetrial.finalfantasyxiv.com/na/ and follow that website.
On PS4: You will either need a new ps network account, or you need to contact SE support and have them unlink your SE account from your PSN account. This is a one time thing only.
