Hello everyone!
This post is aimed at informing other players in an effort to help them avoid committing violations as well as aimed to help Square-Enix become informed what actions they take can result in a better community.
This is a public service announcement regarding suspensions and bans, and what is considered a "violation" so others are more aware and understanding of what might result in a penalty against their account.
I have listed here, a small compilation of what resulted in the highest of penalties against a Square-Enix account:
Possibly obvious but not so obvious, the simple use of curse words to any extent:

Selling items to players whom have purchased gil:

Being lighthearted in general:

Making a Poll about things people do all the time in raids:

Trying to help other players improve their damage:

Using someone's name and disagreeing with them:

I personally feel it would be best if Square-Enix followed the account penalty policy which states:
There are six levels of penalty in ascending order of severity:
"Caution,"
"Warning,"
"Temporary Service Account Suspension (3 Days),"
"Temporary Service Account Suspension (10 Days),"
"Temporary Service Account Suspension (20 Days)," and
"Service Account Termination."
I believe if this policy was adhered to, such as making use of the "caution" and "warning" sections specifically, players would come to understand what is appropriate and not appropriate before making mistakes.
I think, handing out freely suspensions and bans to people results in more trolling and more confusion, and even more reports which in turn results in more bans and more suspensions. A sort of continuous cycle.
If the players were less confused about what was appropriate and inappropriate, I think the community would reflect this behavior, as it once has before these suspensions and bans became commonplace.
Overall, I think showing appreciation for fans and customers, such as customer appreciation incentives, and following the penalty procedures would encourage cooperation from the FFXIV community.
Being strict, and selective, I feel only causes confusion, and fear within the community, which I do not believe is beneficial to the community as a whole.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day and continues to enjoy FFXIV!
