Hey there!
It's just about 2 days until Patch 5.3 arrives and is hastily downloaded by all of us thirsty for more content. It's been six months!
Before then though, I wanted to make a quick reminder about two things.
Subreddit wiki
Our subreddit wiki boasts some popular pages, especially when it comes to frequently asked questions and the largest organised list of FFXIV resources. It's also got some particularly useful pages about account security and communities.
The wiki is also optimized for mobile users; easy navigation, simple structure, and organised content.
But, did you know that it can be edited and updated by anyone, including you?
Found a handy tool or website? Add it to the resources page!
See a question asked lots? Refer them to the FAQ page, or add the question if it isn't already there.
The subreddit wiki depends on users like you to keep it updated, and by doing so it has a positive impact on the health of the subreddit, helping others to find very useful stuff with ease, whether it be fixing an error code, getting answers to their questions, links to communities, finding a content creator they like, and more!
"But I don't know how to edit a wiki page!"
It's easy! On desktop, navigate to the wiki page you want to edit and you should see an 'Edit' button above the wiki page content. On old reddit this will be next to the wiki page title.

Then you are free to edit and update to add information and help others! Wiki pages also support markdown formatting, to make things look nice and neat.
User flairs
Recently some changes were made to user flairs (also called community flairs). Basically, we turned off CSS and instead use emojis to deliver the images used in user flairs. We also reordered and reduced the number of user flairs to select from.
However, this means that if your user flair uses the CSS images, which is likely if you haven't changed it in a while, those images will no longer appear.
To update your user flair, follow the instructions on this wiki page.
Hol' up, I'm using old Reddit and I can't select the same images I had before?
Because of the sheer number of user flair templates the subreddit had before, the selection box on old Reddit was a big ridiculous to look at and search for the one you liked. With this change, we added popular emoji as a selection of user flair templates, and introduced a couple of highly customizable user flairs at the top, which can use either 3 emojis and text, or up to 6 emojis respectively.
Wait. My user flair can have multiple images? HOW?!
Yup! And the best way to do that is by temporarily using the newer version of Reddit.
- Navigate to https://new.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/
- Click on 'Community Options'
- Click the edit button next to your username. You'll then see something that looks a bit like this:
User flair selection
Clicking that smiley face will then show you all the emojis you can choose to include in your user flair (There's a lot! Let us know if there's one you want added!). Add whatever combination of emojis and text you want add you're good to go!
Hate using new Reddit? Me too sometimes. Reddit has said they'll be bringing emoji support to old Reddit in the future (But who knows when that'll actually arrive :/).
See you in Patch 5.3!
