I've begun to notice the FF8 Refrences in the Eden raids in FFXIV, and I wonder if they are going to create more references further especially with Gaia.
In one of the cuts cutscenes, Gaia mentions that "Gaia" isn't her real name and she doesn't remember her real name, and since she's the Oracle of Darkness I'm wondering if her real identity is Ultimecia from FF8 and if later on she will be corrupted by Darkness (similarly to how Ryne lost control of Shiva), and the final boss of the Eden series will be Gaia after turning into Ultimecia. It wouldn't be the first time we fought a previous FF villain in a raid with Exdeath and Kefka in the Omega raid series.
