First off, I'm really loving Occult Crescent and I'm really happy to have an actual relic quest. Exploration content and relic weapons are my favorite content in the game and I'm having a lot of fun with it.
HOWEVER,
Why are we still getting genderlocked gear? What is the point of removing genderlocks from gear, just to release more new gear with genderlocks? Why do the Tycoon tights turn into ugly generic pants when I put them on my male character? I love the female version of this bottom piece and it's greatly discouraging that I cannot wear it because I play a male character.
The fact that the bottoms of the gear based on a male character’s outfit (Lix attire/Bartz) only has one version for both genders, but the gear based on a female character’s outfit (Tycoon attire/Lenna) had to have two different genderlocked versions is hypocritical and reeks of chauvinistic double standard. I'm not surprised, but it disappoints me every time and kills some of my enthusiasm for new content.
Lastly, before someone comes and makes the, “I don't want to see a male Roe in underwear” comment. The 2B tights already exist, the ship has sailed. I don't see how genderlocking new gear would prevent someone from dressing scantily when we already have that option right now. Also, most importantly, I don't think player expression should be limited because some people can't handle male thigh exposure. In general, I don't think a form of character expression [Group A] likes should be restricted because [Group B] does not like or care for it-- the player should be able to freely craft their character without being limited by archaic gender restrictions.
