Right now in FF14, making a character locks you into either masculine or feminine animations for everything. I've had to choose between characters that move too stiffly or too daintily, when what I really want is the freedom to mix both.
Sometimes I just want to move like a male Au Ra, with its anime run.
But other times I want to move like a female Midlander
Other MMOs like Black Desert Online and PSO2:NGS have already shown this is completely doable. The solution is straightforward: make animation sets a separate choice in character creation, just like how we choose hairstyles or facial features. I know many players would keep using matched sets, but for me and others like me, mixing animations would finally let us create characters that move the way we feel inside.
How our characters move and emote isn't just cosmetic - it's how we express ourselves in this world we love. When I'm feeling fabulous, I want my character to show that. When I'm feeling powerful, I want those strong, confident animations. Our expression is fluid, and our characters should be able to reflect that.
The best way to do so is to add a setting in Character Configuration.
This allows everyone to change their expression at any time, to use feminine or masculine animations.
