So I have the ff14 CE v1.0 security token from the release of ff14. I never played much (maybe a dozen or two hours of playtime) and sort of check my account periodically every few years as I do want to get back into the game. Recently my physical security token is doing some strange things. The first time I hit the button it displays something other then numbers. Some resemble letters but some also don’t resemble either. I’ll describe it best I can. Lowercase b or a 6 without the horizontal top. Note that none of the positions are burnt out, as they do later populate with numbers. Next is a capital A or an 8 missing the bottom horizontal bit. Next are TWO capital E’a also missing the top horizontal bar on both. Then a large space and at the very end two complete 0 or O’s. After this pop up, if I either press the button twice or wait, my one time password DOES populate. I haven’t confirmed If the code works or not as I don’t have a computer to test it on atm and don’t want to mess with my saved password.
Additional Information: back in late 2017 (about 3 years ago) my key did become unsynced. I had to argue with the rep on the phone for a good half hour before they stopped trying to get me to deactivate it. They had said that’s all I could do but I kept pointing them to references on their support that said these can become Desynced and support can resync them. He finally acknowledged that possibility and went ahead and resynced it and low and behold it was now working again. Not sure if this is relevant.

I had to argue with the rep on the phone for a good half hour before they stopped trying to get me to deactivate it. They had said that’s all I could do but I kept pointing them to references on their support that said these can become Desynced and support can resync them. He finally acknowledged that possibility and went ahead and resynced it and low and behold it was now working again. Not sure if this is relevant.
