No, we do have enough content

You know, I had this thought that we’re not getting enough content for the money we pay, even before that PC Gamer article. I used to think that devs should make more content instead of telling us to play other games. But over the past few months, I’ve been playing other games and… I realized I’d been addicted to FFXIV. I now think we have more than enough content.

BUT WAIT!!!

What about the sub price? Why do we have to pay $13 each month for just 4 hours of MSQ every 4 months? Well, let’s break down Patch 7.1
What did we get?
3 hours of the MSQ
2 hours of the Alliance Raid (excluding reclears)
1 hour of Role Quests
30 minutes of Hildibrand Adventures
30 minutes of Custom Deliveries
Allied Society Quests: 10 minutes per day*30=5 hours+1.5 hours of cutscenes
The Extreme Trial: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
The Chaotic Alliance Raid: 2 hour lockout (excluding reclears)
I didn’t include the Ultimate because, according to the forums, only 1% of the playerbase does it, or Unreal because it’s old, reused content

That’s 17.5 hours of content. Add 10 hours of dailies (leveling/Frontlines) since most players do these, and we get 27.5 hours of content for a month.

We’re getting 27.5 hours of content for just $13. According to howlongtobeat.com, it takes 60 hours to complete Elden Ring. That game costs $60, so that’s $1 per hour. FFXIV gives you ~2 hours of content per $1. And that’s just the bare minimum! You can do so much more—reclears, hunts, crafting, gathering, RP, old content if you haven’t done it. You can get sooo much more out of those $13. And if you’re one of those so-called housing hostages, go touch some grass and stop acting like it’s your real house. And even if you stay subbed for 4 months, that’s still 30 minutes of content per $1 at the bare minimum, which isn’t that bad.

Just how much content do you want? 27.5/30=almost 1 hour of playtime every day. That’s a normal playtime for most people who go at work/school, have family, friends, hobbies, take shower and clean their room. And again… that’s just the bare minimum. Oh, what? Not enough? You say you play 18 hours every day? Sorry, but the devs aren’t going to design the game around 1% of terminally online players. If you want a mount from the Chaotic raid, you’ll need to clear the fight 50 times at worst—that’s 10 hours at best, plus another 10 if you want the Extreme mount, another 10-20 for the gathering mounts and thousands of fates for the gemstone mount. You can also do the Ultimate, it’ll take you at least 100 hours to clear that fight, and you can do it it's not that hard.

It's really not about the amount of content, but how engaging some of it is. And it's funny how the entire expansion was delayed because of the Elden Ring DLC, while the devs make the game easier and easier.
