Newbie White Mage Blues

I'm a brand new player to FF14 (and MMOs actually). I'm a level 47 white mage even though I only started last week. I've played several FF games, but these strict classes are pretty new to me.

Dungeons with others were pretty straightforward for awhile. However, I just had an experience with a tank who quote "didn't want to be a dick...but there weren't many heals." There would've been more heals if I wasn't constantly being ganged up on by enemies, but that's neither here nor there. This experience really bothered me as I feel very responsible for my party as their healer, so I do my best to keep everyone healthy. As a newbie to both MMOs, being a white mage, and this game, I guess I'm a little more sensitive to that type of feedback, especially since I feel as though it's my fault if we fail.

Anyway, I'd love some advice from more seasoned White Mages or even other classes who have advice on what they'd like to see from their healer.

  1. I know I shouldn't let the feedback bother me. My fiance is a gaming YouTuber and Twitch streamer and his advice was basically "don't let it get to you" which I know is right. Would love to hear how other mages handle this.
  2. What do you prioritize when playing as a White Mage? I feel like I'm laser focused on everyone's HP bars to the point that it can be detrimental.
  3. Are there any spell combos that you guys favor?
  4. Any advice on just...getting better overall? I take on a lot of quests to practice.
  5. I use controller over mouse and keyboard - would love thoughts on this.

TL;DR - am newbie white mage who got sassed for the first time, am sad, and would love advice.
