My Wishlist For 6.0 Drg

I have seen a few of these posts throughout the past few months for various jobs, so I thought I’d share my wishlist for 6.0 dragoon.

It ended up being a bit more detailed than I originally thought, but my ideas here revolve around a few things: QoL, bringing more focus to JUMPS, and leaning into the class identity of mobility (which presently I find kind of lacking).

Potencies and timers are just me shooting from the hip, but here goes:

Lvl 82

Elusive Jump Mastery Trait Elusive Jump stacks up to 2 charges Shares a recast timer with Spearhead (More mobility!)

Lvl 84

Coerthan Torment Mastery Trait Upon successfully finishing a Coerthan Torment combo, 15 seconds are added to your Disembowel buff, to a maximum of 30s. (This is probably on every DRG’s wishlist, lol.)

Lvl 86

Spearhead Ability Horizontal gap closer with 2 charges 100 potency Recast: 30s Combo action: Elusive Jump Combo potency: 300 Shares a recast timer with Elusive Jump (Even MORE mobility. The combo potency doesn’t punish you for the times when you need to use Elusive Jump, otherwise can just be used on cooldown. Also, *not* considered a “jump,” for reasons related to the lvl 90 ability. I really think DRG needs a proper gap closer that isn't one of the normal jumps that should strictly be used on CD.)

Lvl 88

Blood of the Dragon Mastery III Trait Upgrades Blood of the Dragon to become a passive trait once activated (So it’s no longer on a timer, however Life of the Dragon still lasts 30 sec. Let’s face it, BotD still having a timer these days is pretty much pointless at 80, and doesn’t really add anything dynamic the class).

Lvl 90

Call of the First Brood Ability Recast: 180s Directly channel the power of Midgardsormr. Strengthens the gaze of your Dragon Gauge by 1, and grants Communion. Can only be used while under the effect of Blood of the Dragon. Communion Duration: 20s Effect: For every Jump ability used during Communion, you gain 1 stack up to a maximum of 3. Each stack deals an additional amount of damage for each Jump as Midgardsormr aids you in your flight, for as long as Communion is active: 1 stack: 15% additional potency 2 stacks: 25% additional potency 3 stacks: 50% additional potency

The idea here is that you can get a Life window during the opener with the free eye, and you want to land as many jumps as possible within the Communion window, while considering their order. Better to save stronger jumps until you have 3 stacks, obviously. (900 potency Stardiver, pls)

For animation, I imagine the addition of a glowy silhouette of Midgardsormr enveloping your character while jumping under Communion, and maybe a bigger, more satisfying splash effect upon landing the jump. Could also show the Communion stacks in the Job Gauge.

The core rotation wouldn’t change too much, just with a bit more flexibility of Life windows (and no more delayed Life opener), and some more attention needed on how you order your jumps. I love DRG as it is, honestly, and I think these changes would just make it more “punchy” and more satisfying to play, without drastically changing the rotation as it is now. Maybe the 180s CD would be too long, so perhaps 120s? As long as it lines up decently with other raid buffs.

Was imagining all of this a waste of time? Probably. But regardless! Would love hear thoughts on this or other jobs!
