- Climate Crisis
The Australian wildfire, Amazon fires, and many countries leaving the Paris agreement means that the climate crisis is now even worse than before. I think a good new year's resolution is for Square Enix to rely on 100% clean energy. The NA servers should be moved to Arizona where there is a lot of desert so it can use solar energy.
- Minority representation
Truth be told this game is still really white and all of the Scions are light-skinned and straight. There's nothing wrong with that but it'll be awesome if Square Enix finally put a prominent LGBT/dark-skinned character as a main protagonist (maybe in 6.0? I would love to see a reveal of Gaius being gay and he's also pretty dark-skinned).
- Wealth inequality
The gil discrepancy is extremely high in this game. Crafting should not give so much gil. There are literal billionaires in the game while new players are lucky if they can afford dyes or glamour prisms at all. I think maybe it's time for Square Enix to start tackling wealth inequality in this game? As a person of low income, I do not like feeling poor in-game too. Gil should be much easier to obtain (perhaps 30k gil every time you do a roulette would be nice)
