She was helping me clear Ala Mhigo, and I was healing for her as scholar. We were running out the gate, and I notice that I quickly pass her after she pulls the first pack, so I double back.
We proceed through the dungeon, one pack at a time. My heart drops. We get to the first boss, and I die due to lag and failed mechs, so she ends up Clemency-spamming and clears the boss. Which is cool, but next boss, she tells me that she’s going to self-heal so I can focus on healing the dps instead.
This style of play is pretty inefficient for most healers, as aoe shielding and indomitability/emergency tactics are the strongest tools for managing more than a single target in boss fights. Not only that, but pulling one pack at a time effectively renders a healer useless. You literally do not need to be healed when tanking 3 trash mobs.
So we get out of dungeon, and she starts talking about how awesome Clemency is and how dope it is to be able to carry the team through a wipe (which is fine! No complaints there), and that she’s had trouble with other healers being too impatient, asking her to pull more, running ahead and pulling for her, and then dying, etc.
I just... I don’t know how to bring this up. She is a really sweet person, great leadership in the fc, I like her on a personal level. She is also very sensitive and tends to take things somewhat personally, and I just don’t know how to bring this up without offending her or hurting her feelings.
She only plays PLD, and she’s getting toward end-game. She wants to level Scholar next, so I’m also thinking that maybe I don’t say anything at all and let her just figure it out from the healer’s side of things.
