On Saturday, February 27, 2021, Skyltbraena Wilfswys returned to the aether. A memorial service will be held in faer honor on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 8pm EST/ 5pm PST in Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre in Old Gridania on Goblin, Crystal. To honor Sky at this event, please wear either red or trans pride colors and change your title to “The Fae-Touched” if able.
Sky’s passing is a great loss to all of us that knew faer, and to the FFXIV community at large. A lover of tanking and plate armor, Sky took readily to the job of Warrior and lived up to faer name of Shield-breaker Wolf-sister. Sky had a love of nature and astronomy, serving for some time on an observatory board, but also loved the moon symbolically as a symbol of ancient greek Artemis, solitary huntress and protector of women. Fae was a warm and kind person who, despite struggling for a long time with several serious medical conditions, would still readily find the time and energy to listen to and care about others that fae met.
With FFXIV being faer go-to place while stuck at home, Sky had become a fixture on Goblin and a common sight in cross-world parties across Crystal DC. Sky was one of those not so widely known but important positive and nurturing forces in the community. In a year in which many of us had to observe social distancing, fae was one of those who acted to keep at least our time in Eorzea running smoothly, regularly checking up on and reaching out to friends. Sky treasured and cherished each new friend fae met across Eorzea, and it was of utmost importance to faer that every one of those people felt seen and important in faer eyes. As a raid organizer, as a trusted friend, and as someone who was just genuine - in every smile, every tear, every kind word of comfort or concern, every shared moment of wit and whimsy, but also in how scared fae could be of the signs of faer own body too often failing faer... Sky was as preciously human as anyone can hope to be. Now as we face the promise that Endwalker will bring our characters to visit Eorzea's moon, fae looked forward to it... but alas, when that day comes, fae will not be there to see it. I will miss faer dearly, and cherish the fond memories fae has left me with.
May fae ever walk in the light of the Crystal.
