Mch: Anyone Find It Weird That The Animation For "slug" And "split Shot" Seem To Be Reversed.

As per title, I just came back to FFXIV, and have been playing MCH when I can't believe I just realised while lagging and spamming the different skills, that Heated Slug Shot has a splitting animation. It was then I thought why is this Heated Slug Shot and not Heated Split Shot?
Does anyone know the etymology of these shots (I've tried googling but not much information), or does anyone know their original Japanese names which could account for these names?
