Maybe It's Just Me. Maybe It's Not.

This is my first and probably only Reddit post, so bear with me for a sec.

As of late, I've been a bit confused by something. I log in to an MMORPG, a very popular one mind you, and I feel like it's just an RPG.

I go out of my way to try and converse with other players, and it seems nobody can be bothered to give you even a few seconds of their day in return. This is the complete opposite game I got hooked on 2 years ago for it's rather overly social community, and to be honest, it's kinda sad. The only time you can get anyone to say a word in return is by going to RP events, but I don't RP (and I've tried, it's really just not my thing), and everyone else that does is portraying a character rather than themselves.

I've tried joining 'active social FCs' that are really 'me and my two friends do roulettes while the rest of the people we've invited say nothing and go about their business', and the extremely impersonal mega FCs with 300+ members, and everything in between. And frankly, I'm disappointed.

Like the title says, maybe it's just me and I'm looking in the wrong places, but 2 years ago it wouldn't have been this difficult to actually find people that aren't shut ins. It's very disheartening to see my favorite game in such an antisocial state. Does anyone else see this??

TL;DR I'm doing a big sad because I'm lonely and it's hard to make friends with people that don't talk; which seems to be most people
