I have not tried to play with macro yet since I have been busy cooking etc :p And of course updating everyday.. and then today run to store to get expansion and update some more!

Anyway, found this and thought it will save everyone time and hopefully help with the "I need more lines!" problem. Credit goes to BG forum not I. The point is: you can macro in the macro commands and use that ability to do multiple swaps.

Warning Warning!! if you change names of the Books still have to use the # of book and set in macros and log commands. So if Book # 1 is Uber RDM .. Sorry still is Book #1 for the commands :D. Haha don't forget which is which or maybe leave the # at start. For example #1 Uber RDM :bluewink:

And another:

So with a little help from people I figured out a sorta easy but complicated way to have enough macro lines for a complete gear swap!


For my THF I have Book 3, and use Macro sets 2 and 3 in this book. Every single macro is identical in both macro sets besides 2 of them which are my TP gear macros and my WS macros. This is how it goes.

MACRO SET 2
/equip head ""
/equip ear1 ""
/equip body ""
/equip hands ""
/equip ring1 ""
/macro set 3

Now when I hit this macro it will change my gear then instantly switch me to my other macro pallet which looks like this.

MACRO SET 3
/equip ring2 ""
/equip back ""
/equip waist ""
/equip legs ""
/equip feet ""
/macro set 2

Now for this to work properly you have to hit the same macro twice. Which is better then trying to hit two different macros. Also to make this easier, make sure every other macro is identical to the other. I.E. For my THF, SA and TA are both in the same macro on both pallets. This just lets you continue doing your job on w/e job you may be on w/o having to think to much XD!

I haven't tried this out w/ 3 macro pallets, But I believe I will have to with ninja, it has complete gear swamp while tanking tiamat. It should work, I'll keep you updated!

This could never beat Windower macros but its a decent alternative for now.

that's awesome. I may use that occasionally.

most people still won't use it though because it doesn't do everything for them.
 
I'm imagining this is something I'm going to have to work out when I see the updated books, but I'm very excited with all my TA/SA/ACC/HST gear swapage.

I'm concerned about the lag that may occur with this... if it EVER lagged out and didn't swap between books, you'd be in a world of fun figuring out which macro set you were in.

Beyond that, yes, it is a very innovative way of dealing with the hassle that IS FFXI macro lines. It's something to dink with, but it's going to be hard to give up the "good" macros that a lot of us already use. :)
 
Until they are able to detect and start banning people using Windower, this was a lot of wasted effort. Still, it's nice to see that they're making an attempt to improve the existing system. And for PS2/360 crew it's awesome.
 
Can't be a wasted effort if it's amazing for PS2 and Xbox users. ^_^;; Besides, it helps out those PC users who refuse to use 3rd party tools too.

Indeed. I have been mapping out some macros in excel for setting up new macros for the 360 and on PC. I have not made any groud-breaking macros but have simplified some and made some others more complex.

As far as lagging out: that's where the /echo lines come in handy. If you didnt see the /echo line you were expecting.... it didnt happen, push it again! I tend to hold down the macro key longer anyway, that seems to make sure it goes through.

My mage macros are of course most complex, Melee, not so much.

Yeah, you can do some interesting things with mage macros. My favorite is having 2 related songs in the same macro. It looks like this:

/equip body "Yigit Gomlek"
/ma "Victory March" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Advancing March" <me>
/equip ranged "Snare Drum"

Singing march/min? Press the march macro once for the strongest haste song, then press the minuet macro once. Singing double march? Press the march macro 2x. It's not quite as flexible as having separate macros, but it was a godsend when trying to put my main brd songs in a single set.

Also fun is my smn macros for calling avatars, which also can trigger the right 2hr for that avatar.

/pet Inferno <t>
/ma Ifrit <me>
/equip main "Fire Staff"

Summon Ifrit? Press the macro. Switch back to fire staff if you had to cure or something? Press the macro. It won't actually 2hr until you manually Astral Flow, and then pressing that same macro triggers the 2hr.

Wish I could say I came up with these, but they were wonderful to find on a forum. Of course, I might change these now that I can devote a set of 20 to each avatar if I want. ^_^</me></t></me></me>

I do this with my BRD macros as well.

WTF Snare Drum!?!?! is this serious? if it is post a video of your cat walking around beating on a drum, gotta see that lol
 
Sorry! ^_^;; I couldn't think of the right instrument, so I made up something that sounded appropriate for a march. Electric guitar just didn't seem to fit right. ^_~
