I guess while maintenance is ongoing I'd leave this nugget here. Use your Retainers as your guinea pigs for testing any changes you want to make.

Pros:
- Retainer Fantasias are cheap and readily available in-game.
- You can test a variety of jobs on your retainers (assuming you have 2 different jobs/roles at least).
- To expand on 2. You won't have a basic level 1 alt unable to wear anything as a result.
- You can test them anywhere summoning bells exist
- If you own a home you can even put a retainer in the yard to test.
Cons:
- You can't test all voices. I regret my Viera's choice of voice. Good laugh, good cheer, horrible combat/frustration voices. (gotta go Youtube for that)
- Difficult to test animations and ALL light conditions.
- Difficult to examine in-game facial details without a house
But overall, retainers are way cheaper and easier to test with than... actual Fantasias. You can always go for an alt after you've finished with the Retainer!
