Looking to get some helpful tips, tricks, pointers for healing in FFXIV.
I've only done healing once before, years ago in WoW (as a Shaman in Legion), and it wasn't my thing, but after re-rolling from BLM to SMN I remembered I could do SCH too and thought "why not?"
I've been playing FFXIV for 1.5-2 months (tried FFXIV years ago and it didn't click but came back for 5.3) and I do understand FFXIV in general (I'm a 80 BLM and done casual raids) but clearly not a FFXIV veteran. Currently level 31 in SCH/SMN.
Questions,
1. how important is it to do damage as a healer? Seems like it should be my lowest priority but is it fine if I simply don't even try?
2. while scholar doesn't have interrupts or mechanisms for purging/dispelling enhancements from enemies, is that something **ANY** ffxiv healer can do? Those were important healer activities in WoW
3. Is there any difference between the eos and selene scholar pets? I saw info that they now have the same skills in 5.0. Is there any point to keeping both on an action bar? I'm inclined to just use selene since its more visible for me.
4. Is there any way to micro manage the eos/selene pet abilities? The important ones can't be added to action bars and the /pac macro command doesn't seem to work on them either, as far as I can tell.
5. For healing I pulled the party frame closer to the middle and increased it's size so it was easier to see in a fight and "reach" with the mouse for tagetting. Anything else UI-wise that people can suggest?
6. Focus targeting the tank? yea or nea? Would make tank healing easier in light-sized parties but not sure if it translates well for full parties with 2 tanks.
7. Should I try making macros to make heal targeting more flexible like this one? Not looking to stack different spells just make target-changing for a heal faster.
Code:
/micon Physick
/recast Physick
/merror off
/ac Physick <t>
/ac Physick <mo>
/ac Physick <tt>
/ac Physick <me>
8. In WoW pvp, enemy healers were your primary target; they were just incredibly impactful. in FFXIV pvp (which I haven't tried yet) are healers just as important?
9. What tips, tricks, advice can folks offer this healing noob, other than the obvious "git gud nub"?
