Hi! As the title states, I'm a WoW-Player who's been playin' since Burning Crusade and I'm looking to get into FFXIV!
But I'm wondering if anyone can help me understand a few things like...
Which Realm/Server should I be in for NA West? I don't really understand the Data Centers or where they are exactly located, I don't wanna start playing only to figure out I could get better ping from another Realm. Also I'm looking for simply an active Realm where its not too hard to find people to do all current content that requires multiple party members. And is there any sort of Cross-Realm/Server interaction?
How much does Race/Class decision matter? I know that you can level a class on a single character however, how easy is it to transition between them and does Race choice matter? Like do certain races have better buffs or racials?
How is class balance? If I choose one class in a spec, will it be harder to join groups as that Class? Question speaks for itself however if there is unbalance, how often are classes usually balanced?
How long does it take to reach end-game? And for a side note, how relevant is old content since I believe FFXIV is on it's 3rd expansion (?) so does trying or doing old content matter for things like WoW has (Transmog/Mounts/etc...)
How is gearing like? Fast? Slow? I love WoW but getting loot and gear was a painfully rng heavy, so how is it like here?
PvP? I never did much of it until recently in WoW but does it exist? Is it worth?
((And that's about it!))
If anyone reading this could help me out that'd be fantastic because baseline googling some of these things isn't too clear (but maybe I'm just not googling the right things since I'm not familiar with FFXIV terms)
Any other tips/info for me while starting out would be fantastic! Hopefully I'll love and stay with this community for as long as I have WoW!
