I'm really curious as to what everyone has to say about the OW and where would content for it be, if it were in the hands of the community.

I'm of the opinion that the OW is being very under utilized. As it stands we have Fates, Hunts, Maps, and of course Crafting and Gathering is tied to the OW. But when we go further, Fates are extremely devalued, even with ShB implementing the Shared Fates tethered to mount speed, or the occasional minion or glamour, you have almost no reason to really touch a Fate. Hunts have a nice thing about them, with regards to S rank spawns that is. By requiring players to do some sort of prerequisite to unlock them, this is somewhat engaging. Maps are probably the best feature for the OW, as they possibly trigger a portal to earn more rewards, and see more content. And with Crafting and Gathering we have the Ishgard Restoration, which in a loosely defined way has a slight impact on the OW by giving players a community based end game goal to complete. But most of this is all given a backseat to dungeons, raids, trials, deep dungeon, and even housing, but should it?

As weird as it sounds, I think the OW would be more lively and meaningful if the concept of Maps were expanded to everything else that takes place within the World. Here is where my reasoning comes from, if you ever played Destiny 2, or even followed it, you likely heard of the weapon quest Whisper of the Worm. It was a hidden quest built into a older piece of content, it activated once you found and killed a specific enemy related to it's Public Event (Destiny's version of Fates) spawning a portal for you or your party to explore a new area, and possibly obtaining the weapon.

How would it work? For the sake of simplicity, let's say you finish a Fate, somewhere a portal would spawn and by entering it you're taken to a separate instanced area, that has a random encounter with the possibility of obtaining loot. Hunts? same idea, spawn the S rank, take out it's minions, a instanced portal pops, you find it and you're taken to a savage or extreme version of the Hunt, you could even expand this to A ranks to a degree. Gathering would work as well, you'd spawn a portal and get taken to an area with even more unique items to find.

These maybe ramblings, but it was fun to think of this. So what would you all do if you were given the chance to develop something for the OW?
