Launcher Issue [response From Support]

Hi All,



Like several from you, I too have been having issues opening the FFXIV launcher since yesterday. I contacted support yesterday evening and got their below reply just now:











Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

We are very sorry to hear that you are having connection issues when trying to play the game. We are not aware of an issue with the game and we believe the issue may be related to your connection.

If you are playing on PC please follow these steps:

1.) Use the Google DNS:

- Go to the Control Panel
- Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings
- Rightclick on the connection you are using and select Properties
- Under the Networking tab you will see a long list of available options
- Scroll down and doubleclick on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
- Select 'Use the following DNS server addresses'

- Preferred DNS server > 8 . 8 . 8 . 8
- Alternate DNS server > 8 . 8 . 4 . 4

- Click OK

2.) Renew your IP address and DNS:

- Please press windows key + r
- Type cmd.exe then hit return
- Type ipconfig /release then hit return
- Type ipconfig /flushdns then hit return
- Type ipconfig /renew then hit return

3.) Add the game to the exception rules in your firewall and security software, so that the game is not being blocked by this software. If you are unsure about how to do this, you can alternatively disable this software temporarily.

4.) Restart your network equipment:

- Plug off your router from the power outlet on the wall
- Wait 2 minutes
- Plug the router back in

Now try the game.

If you are playing on Playstation 4 then please follow these steps :

- Start PlayStation 4
- Go to settings
- Go to network
- Select setup internet connection
- Select Use a LAN cable (or wi-fi if that’s what you are using)
- Select Custom (there’s several pages to go through here. For settings other than MTU and DNS servers, if there are specific settings your network connection has to use, feel free to set them up rather than using automatic settings)

- IP Address (set to automatic)
- DHCP host name (set to ‘Do Not Specify’)
- DNS Settings (set to Manual)
- Primary: 8.8.8.8
- Secondary: 8.8.4.4
- MTU Settings (set to Manual)
- At default this would be 1500. Try setting it to 1470. You can experiment with this setting a little bit, but we would not recommend you go below 1400.
- Proxy (set to ‘Do Not Use’)

- Now test the connection

I'm very disappointed with their reply. How can they not acknowledge this issue? Not even investigate?
I thought it was strange nothing was mentioned on their website as I found more players were experiencing this error. It even took me 30 minutes just to open a ticket because their EU support page kept timing out.



I've not been having any issues with other online games I play and I'm sure the problem lies with them. I'm so disappointed.
