I've been playing this game from the day 2.0 went live, and I've met a lot of incredible people. Every so often I come across someone who really goes out of their way to be kind.
Background: I'm disabled and part of the issue is that my hands are weak and have very limited range of motion, so while I do my best, I'm never going to be a very good player. I'm just not physically capable of moving my fingers quickly enough. So it took me a long damn time to get up the courage to try playing classes other than the one I know I'm at least acceptably skilled at. I have found it easier to learn a new class by creating a new alt character and playing through the MSQ again.
Enter: the game's very worst dragoon. I picked the class because the armor is cool, okay? I'm pretty terrible at it but slowly improving. So one day I decided that I wanted to go for the 2.0 relic weapon (Gae Bolg in my case). All was proceeding well until I got to the part where you need an item from the Dhorme Chimera. Remember that? Yeah, I didn't either, even though I have the relic completed on my main class. You fight the chimera once and then never again unless you want multiple relics. It isn't included in any of the roulettes, and a lot of people have totally forgotten this fight exists. I wasted a few hours queuing up for it before admitting that it's a lost cause trying to Duty Finder, as a DPS, a fight that most people only do one time and that time was five years ago.
I don't have that many in-game friends and everyone I might have asked is on another data center or has an inactive sub while waiting for new content. So I made a PF and blatantly asked for help. Even though most people I've met in this game are really nice, I didn't think that extended to joining a stranger's party to carry them through an obscure fight with nothing in it for the person helping.
Well, it turned out I was wrong. Someone joined my PF less than a minute after I created it, singlehandedly murdered the chimera so that I could get my alumina salts, and then took off before I could even type out a thank you. So, here it is. Thank you so much, Mochi Meiko of Cactuar. (It's okay to mention someone's name when you're thanking them for being amazing, right? I hope?) I don't know if they will ever see this, but I hope so. By taking the time to help me you really made a shitty night a lot better, and I'll definitely pay it forward when I can.
