Does FF14 have the worst Inventory Systems in the MMO Market?
To clarify a bit and give in the Feedback from my point of few:
-FF14 has an old Inventory System that needs a dire rework/restructure
-I know at least 3 people (me included) that spend a significant amount of time, not just “cleaning” their inventory and space , but sorting it out and spending a lot of time just staring at their inventory/chocobo saddlebags and their retainers. So Once a week for some people in ff14 it is the “cleanday”
-You can´t be spontaneous about things like , Gathering and Crafting , because you need to have a lot of place in your inventory to manage the given Items, example try doing the “ocean fishing” that can be fun, with a full Inventory. (A Crafterbag/Gatherebag or Fishing Bag would be nice but I guess there may be even nicer options to make it more convenient for the player, I am not a dev)
-Retainers are Outdated and make it more complex then needed. (in my humble beginnings in ff14 I thought Retainers were NPC´s to make the world more alive and make you feel like you are a Hero , and they take care of your inventory management, but it kinda was the other way around)
Don´t get me wrong , from a RP perspective, I love the Idea of a Retainer doing things for me, selling my stuff, etc. But I hate spending Hours , organizing items between them and me and other inventory slots/glamourdresser
-Glamoursystem, Oh Boy, I started this game and very early people warned me to not get into Glamour, because I will get angry at the whole system (back then I didn´t know what they meant)
The Advertisement tells me that I can play 1 Char and do all the jobs with the Avatar.
Inventory wise with 1 Combatjob, I did very fast reach my limit for the glamour dresser with 1 single combat job. 400 places were filled very fast , so I sorted everything out that was “ugly” (but thumbs up to square most of the pieces aren´t really ugly , they are in fact nicely done) ok so only the nice things are there for 1 job , but oh boy what now, so many sets , so many stuff and Retainers are being the “glamour dresser 2.0”. I do not intend to swap the items on and off between them all the time if I feel I want to swap the looks of my character.
Btw we are still at 1 job.
