So when I was younger, I wanted to play FFXI, but my parents refused to let me get it or borrow their credit card for the subscription. Fast forward to 2020 - I'm in my thirties with a full time job and a small child, and I work in a hospital. As the year went on, I got more and more down, until my best friend (who I haven't seen now for a year, who is now WFH and all alone) and I decided to give the FFXIV trial a try. We were hooked, latched on, and have played together almost every night since August (after the babe goes to bed!). We've laughed, cried, and talked on microphone and have thrown ourselves into the game. Tonight we just finished MSQ, and that's how we wrapped up our year.
I'm really looking forward to 2021, even if it means we still have to wear masks and stay in lockdown, because we've found this new wonderful hobby. We've met new friends in an FC, and it's been a great experience.
2020 might have sucked, but getting involved in this game and this community was such a bright spot. I'm so grateful for everything.
