Smoking tobacco is harmful to your health and it is disgusting that this game is promoting smoking by normalizing it through the Lv65 Carpenter quest.
By internalizing and passing off smoking as a normal behavior, the developers are subtly suggesting that smoking is an inerrant habit that is not totally destructive and causing millions of lung cancer cases and lung cancer deaths.
Furthermore you as a crafter are asked to be complicit in these heinous crimes. You are basically helping the smokers get lung cancer by crafting them a pipe box.
I strongly urge Square Enix to take a hard look at their smoking policy and to add smoking to the list of banned topics that can be used in the story. I don't know what the smoking culture is like in Japan but this is totally unacceptable for a 2020 game. The WHO has targeted smoking as one of the biggest threats facing modern civilization and it is time for video game companies to follow suit.
