Hello,
I've been recently having issues with my DS4's deadzones and general use on 14, I can't seem to fix it myself too.
Here's the rundown, I've been playing 14 on PC for about a month, specifically the Steam version, exclusively with a DS4. Initially I had the problem of my character not going perfectly straight when tilting the stick forward, after doing some research I discovered Steam's Big Picture Mode and the options it gave you, using said options I forced on controller support and added a cross shaped deadzone for both sticks to prevent the said stick issue, working perfectly for a time. Fast forward to today, I think I may have accidentally deleted the validation files or whatever they're called for all my steam games, annoying but easy to fix, as it just requires you to install the games again, but instead of installing, steam just adds back the files, but with 14, I had to do a full reinstall of the game through the launcher, even though all the files were already there. After the install the game worked fine with the DS4, even played through the new dungeon as a RDM with a perfect rotation, it was only after the dungeon I noticed something was up with my deadzones, it was back to my character walking slanted, like how when I just installed 14, but after disabling and enabling controller support in big picture mode to try and fix this, 14 recognised the DS4, but it wouldnt work at all! And its not a controller issue, it works fine with New Vegas and Payday 2. The only way I can get it to work is by turning off Controller Configuration in the games Steam options, but that just creates the issue of deadzones again. let me give you a list of solutions I have tried so far:
1.Removing the controller drivers from Windows 10 and downloading them again
2.Deleting the Steam folder for FF14 and doing a fresh install, as I had thought the reinstall thanks to the validation issue might've caused this
3.Going into my user data folder and deleting the controller registration folder, starting over with the DS4, and fiddling with Big Picture mode again
4.Restarting my PC
I'd also like to say that all the necessary options are enabled in 14, in game controller sensitivity has been changed with no benefit with Steams settings turned off.
That's all the info I can give at the top of my head, long winded, but when I read through other technical support requests one of the things that the SE Rep asks is for more info so better safe then sorry. I'd also like to apologise if this is purely a steam issue, I posted this here as I feel its related to FF14 more, as the deadzones worked at one point with steams options enabled.
