I get that "it's a fantasy world", but it's still kind of hard putting a finger on which culture Othard/Doma is supposed to be riffing on?
(Also; is Othard the continent, and Doma is the city within Yanxia? Kind of confused what names refer to what)
My understanding was that Shirogane and Kugane were based on Japan, and the mainland would be more Chinese influence. But then the characters seem decidedly "Japanese", and it's hard figuring where that divide occurs.
Obviously, the Azim Steppes are 100% Mongolian (not to mention my favorite zone and quests in the game so far!), but that just makes it even harder to place the "vibe" that Othard/Doma is going for.
