A bit of some information I have leveled Paladin and Dark Knight to 70, Warrior to 80 and Gunbreaker to 63. I am by no means a tank main, but I like to at least keep one job of each role at level cap so I can fill any role I need to with my friends. With that in mind, I like the ease of tanking that was introduced in Shadowbringers, but the consolidation of skills that came with it makes it not feel nearly as satisfying, be it because of animations or skill effects. For example:
1) Warriors feel good to play when I just keep my skills on cooldown, but the skills don't make the class feel strong. This is mostly an aesthetic matter, I like Chaos Cyclone and Storms Eye, but the Storms Path combo that is most used doesn't feel nearly as good. This is primarily due to the fact that axes are best when being brought down on the enemy, not slashing at them. I preferred the animation for Butcher's Block for this reason, it felt more satisfying to use from a visual perspective. Fell Cleave is great, but the lack of a follow through in the downward swing is just disappointing (I might just be a bit OCD about completing the swing). For being filled with rage, you have a lot of control on that Fell Cleave if you know what I am saying.
2) Paladins are decent, and I might be in the minority here saying that the animations for savage blade into Rage of Halone feel a lot better than Riot Blade into Royal Authority. The animations don't really flow in my opinion and going from slash to slash to flurry of slashes feels more satisfying than slash to stab to single shiny spin slash. That and the transition to spamming Holy Spirit/Holy Circle feels disjointed and unpractical for someone using a sword and shield.
3) Dark Knight suffers similarly to Paladin personally, you had cool greatsword action with the old aggro combo and I liked when Delirium was a combo finisher. Now your combo is big slash to big slash to looking like you are trying to shovel a hole, but are doing it wrong. It also sucks that you have a cool greatsword and most of your skills don't utilize it at all, you could take away the sword entirely and not really change much about the animations. AoE, magic spikes to dark magic laser thing(?) to slash, but dark magic explosions overshadowing it. There is so much potential for greatsword animations in the job, but it sort of falls flat. RIP: Scourge.
4) Gunbreaker I have little experience with, but it seems to feel the most balanced with the skills and animations fitting the weapon used.
Anyway, tanks aren't the only jobs that have this issue. Do other people agree with my statement on tanks, or do you have any other jobs that you have similar gripes with?
