Title, anybody else noticing this?
It's very weird. You would think that people are ruder and more elitist the more difficult the content gets, but from my experience after returning a few months ago, it's the exact opposite.
Tanks that won't use anything except Shelltron or Total Eclipse. DPS that won't combo or AOE, and healers that won't use Regen, lucid dreaming, or shields because "this is the way I play, deal with it." Oh, and the classic, "you don't pay my sub." Or this gem from earlier on today, "I'm a single mom, I don't have to use Aspected Helios or Malefic. I play my way. If you want a healer to DPS, go re-queue."
I ask them if they want advice, and when they say yes, I explain what to do to them. Half the time they're receptive, but the other half they just say a flat out, "No," or just carry on doing the wrong thing.
Do these people honestly not understand how bad their attitude is and how they're inconveniencing everybody else? I can't fathom how people can be this inconsiderate to others. They act like it's a point of pride to be an asshole to everyone. I also don't understand how they're okay with being such bad players. It's one thing to not exactly have the optimal rotation and DPS, it's another thing to not know your rotation at all. Especially at level 60 or 70.
Granted, when it comes to end-game content, everyone else votes to boot them without question, but I have to level up my other jobs and the sheer number of bad actors is just staggering.
I've played during each expansion and it's never been this bad before. This kind of thing makes me want to transfer my character to a JP server or just quit the game.
EDIT: I just want to point out my main gripe is with the attitude of the players. I don't mind if they are trying their best and still failing or just plain don't know what they're doing, but if they bluntly snub any help with flippant remarks or say they don't want to do something, that's what gets me.
