I've been crafting for five years, but I always felt barred from endgame crafting due to overmelding. With the advent of all these crafting changes, I decided to jump back into it and see where it lead me.
While I'm having difficulty doing best in slot melds, I've discovered rank 4 materia. These are bought with 25 scripts (as opposed to the 250 from some other choices), allowing me to easily farm up ten or twenty in one stop. This allows me to easily meld materia with little work.
I have to say, I can't recommend it enough. While not very effective, it still provides a huge boost in performance with little work.
