The idea of the duel mechanic is great, and qualifying by acing a FATE is awesome.
But for anyone actually trying to get a clear, it is already becoming extremely frustrating, especially the first duel in the southern section of the Bozjan Front.
Obviously it being heavily RNG-dependent is part of the idea, but it sucks really, really bad when you commit significant amounts of time to rolling for, often, a 20 to 1 shot of actually getting in the duel, and THEN watch the person who got in immediately die to simply standing in a completely normal aoe cast.
This leads to obviously toxic incentives for players who want to clear the duels, where they are motivated to shame and discourage new players from even trying the duel if they're gonna be complete noobs at it.
My idea is that if the dueling player dies within some short window of the fight starting, the boss could give some dialogue like "Is there no one to offer a challenge? Let's try this again" or something and simply restart the duel and rechallenge the remaining players.
This would serve the dual purpose of helping try-hard players get more chances at clearing, and also lowering the pressure on people who are completely new; people wouldn't mind someone entering the duel with no clue what they're doing.
The alternative, I guess, is tweaking the Critical Engagements so their difficulty more appropriately gates players from entering the duels, but that seems like more work to be honest.
