Ehhhh, I realize this may be a pipedream, but it's a bit difficult for me to explain.
I remember being in 2.0 and there were potions!
Ethers!
Blinding potions you could throw at the enemy!
Poisons!
Eye drops for our own blindness!
Echo Drops to cure silence!
Golden needles to cure crippling petrification!
Various other stuff!
We had status effects like the above. Many that we were affected by, but a few we could inflict ourselves.
Thaumaturge's Sleep spell!
..... Where's all that gone? Would it be horrendous of me to actually want consumables (aside from your generic 'stat potion' that barely even lasts a negligible 15 seconds at best) and status effects to make a come back and actually matter? Both in dungeons AND the overworld? (Please note, 'Vuln stack' does not apply here because that's its own thing IMO).
I want a reason to use all these items again. In a weird way to me at least, FFXIV feels like.. how do I put it.
An MMO wearing a Final Fantasy skin. But it doesn't entirely feel like an FF-game in some regards, if that makes sense?
You used to have to worry about elemental weaknesses and such too (more than you do now). Fire I - Does 'fire aspected damage'. Okay... cool... Where does this "fire aspect" actually matter these days and does it make any tangible difference?
I could very well just be a bit jaded and saddened, that might be it. I just wish it felt a bit more like an FF-game I suppose.
