It means that they are, well, alive. If a sprout tells me that he's new and doesn't understand the mechanics, then I would go slightly slower than usual so he understands the pacing (although if I'm tank I would still pop a sprint, just luring 1-2 packs less than usual).
Basically, if you're a sprout, please don't be hesitant or afraid to communicate with your party members. I'm sure all of us just want to go through the dungeon properly without wiping, so if you don't understand or are unfamiliar with stuff, just let the party know.
I started about 3 months ago and started Savage content last week. From my general experience, most people are just grateful that you are looking to learn that they would gladly help you. What most people get annoyed at is, party members that DON'T want to learn the mechanics and say things like "You don't pay for my sub so you don't control the way I play." That, and also people who do not communicate at all and completely ignore tips from their party members to assist them.
So yeah, I love seeing a sprout mention that they're inexperienced - all of us have been there before, and we would like to progress through content with the least amount of problems. So don't worry, the majority of community is friendly and assholes are few. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
