After much consternation, I picked up this game and decided to give it a go. I never played the Final Fantasy games (with the exception of FF1), so I was worried nothing would make sense to me. Oh my, this game is incredible. Never have I felt more like the adventurer the game portrays you as.
I made a Lalafell (yea yea get your jokes in), and arrived in Ul'Dah with no idea what to do. The only advice I had been given was just to do the MSQ, so that's what I did. I've played WoW, but have lost interest in it about 35 times for various reasons and it is amazing how this game just gets it.
There is this big story going on in the background with the cities and some crazy event 5 years ago, but little ol' me is just trying to help out people with bugs in their garden and what not. BLAM! Blackout crystal time. Turns out some giant floaty crystal has got the hots for me, so you know some destiny stuff is going on. I'm over here like, "Sure crystal. I'll help you out, but you know I gotta spend some time fishing out in Limsa Lominsa? Have you seen that place? Awesome beach views."
So this blonde dude is all excited and says I can see the past, but I figured that was just some residual LSD in the spine from my days before adventuring. Turns out floaty crystal was right. Now I have to go fight some Satan looking beast in the desert. Brought some homies along for the ride, he goes down. Now the armies everywhere thing I'm super dope and want to recruit me. I spend a lot of time out at the beach so why not go with the pirate folk? Now I have a bird to ride on.
Anyways, that's my story so far. I'm loving this game. Glad I'm not too late after all. Everyone has been helpful in chat. Super friendly community. Thanks for keeping a great game alive.
