When I made my character I had no idea what would be in store for me on October 1st, 2020.
Drey Shadowfox, currently residing on Siren, was doing his thing when suddenly someone made the comment, "Hey, you look like Cid!" I had never really thought about it and was like "Meh" Cid looks like me...

So a day goes by, and another person says the exact same thing. A random strangers asks if I can do a gpose selfie with them. I'll be honest...I started feeling uncomfortably objectified.
Another day goes by and I thought you know what....

What's wrong with looking like Cid? Well... little did I know....
Every female character in existence, and quite a few male characters, that have stumbled across me have given me a thumbs up, a request for gpose, marriage proposals, housing offerings, gil, .... I just... I couldn't believe the reaction.
Now, I could have been a troll, I really REALLY could have taken advantage of a lot of people in this particular situation. My evil side was really wanting to come out and play. I did not.
I felt a need, a want, NAY, A DUTY, to do what Cid does. So I did.
I joined Praetorium!
I renowned that Cid was here to fight along side the adventurers and lead the way as their tank. This would allow them to follow Biggs and Wedge's instructions to finish off those dastardly Magitek nincompoops who messed up my magitek Corvettes! #notmymagitek
I went into these MSQs for almost 5 hours. I began making macros, scripting things in my head, resigning to never break the Cid facade. It was important that everyone saw a true Cid reaction. Every time people were joyous to Cid in their MSQ. Sprouts had no clue what was going on. I made random strangers in the most beloved community ever have a good time in something, they found to be a daily grind.
When they came I fired up my first macro!
"These beast's power might seem overwhelming, but trust in old Cid! I have a fair idea of where the weaknesses lie!"
It seemed on it's own, this particular macro, while Cid, was definitely Lacking so i added in:
" I keep a list. It's alphabetized."
I have always used a tank macro to introduce myself. I outline my tanking speed, show that the healer has complete control, and there is no need to run around as a dps as I set the backs of our prey to them. Well... I had to make a Cid tank macro of course:
"Remind me not to install a mammet heart aboard the Enterprise, would you?
Much as I love her, it would derail me from our times together as your tank!
Remember, tell me to slow down if the pace is too brisk!"
Rallying is always important in roulettes so I made sure to put in a rallying cry for Cid as well:
"I believe we have the knowledge and the skills to prevail!"
To spark conversation I included a tiny little factoid most people didn't know:
"Yes! It's true! I would absolutely love to see Nero get punched!"
Not to forget though, Cid likes to include his companions, so of course I added:
"Remember people! Repairs are proceeding apace. It shouldn't be long now before Biggs and Wedge complete their work!"
One piece I improvised on and made:
"No doubt you're wondering why the servomechanism is so important as to warrant this silliness. Secretly, I am as well!"
Whenever a boss section came up where the boss threatened us:
"What beast?! The hells you will!"
Of course I had to add my favorite line:
"Ah, now they deign to grace us with their presence! It took us a good while, but we're finally ready. It's time to infiltrate and rescue!"
I made sure to end every run or dungeon with:
"At any rate, old friends, our work here is done. Wherever the long road may lead him, may Noctis ever ride in the light of the Crystal. "
4 or 5 times I improvised side bar chat to mirror the ongoing story with those of my own to facilitate Cid being in the group with the players. I came up with some great stuff that I have no idea how to get out of the chat logs. They were television worthy. I ran 5 MSQs, 6 level dungeons, and received, 53 commendations. I was told to never change. I was told to keep doing what I was doing. I was told thank you for bringing Cid to life in their daily grind.
I made sure to end every dungeon and MSQ with Cid thanking everyone for being part of the most awesome community anywhere. He would bow and he would go about his way, knowing he helped out adventurers in their times of need.
Now... I'm not here bragging. I am simply here to share, that this is quite possibly the greatest community in the entire world. We are diverse, we are friendly, we are wholesome, we are not so wholesome
